At a time when most other mammals are winding down for the year, people are expected to work harder than ever.

Fortunately, depression is a highly treatable condition. However, depression treatment can't begin until the person who is suffering decides to seek help. Some adults may struggle to maintain a healthy social life, while others may be concerned with the health of their marriages. The desire to own a home, pay off debt or go back to school may also be enough to cause someone to become depressed.

As people advance into their Golden Years, many feel alone, isolated or left behind by their friends and family. Seniors also tend to struggle with an increasing number of health problems as they continue to grow older. Plus, it is becoming increasingly difficult for low-income older Americans to find employment to help make ends meet. All of these factors and more are common causes of depression among seniors.
